CorteSport Summer League

BOOKING CLOSED

CorteSports Box leagues will be commencing June 17th to July 28th. We aim for our leagues to be fun, friendly, and competitive. We can’t wait to see the action unfold!

How it works

You enter as a team and have until June 11th to submit your entry to [email protected]. Entry fee is £10 per person.

Court booking fees apply, off peak £24 (£6 per person) peak £32 (£8 per person)

Each Box consist of 6 pairs. You will play 5 league games. Each division will be formed of pairings of similar level.

After the league is completed the two best teams are moved up and the bottom two are moved down. We can also adjust what we believe will be the best level. Some teams may jump several divisions to adjust the level, both up and down.

Game rules/Scoring

Matches are self-umpired and should be conducted in the spirit of fair play.

Warm up – Max 5 minutes

Match time – 55 minutes

Matches are played Best of 3 sets, a tiebreak at 6-6. With golden point at 40-40, where the returning team gets to choose which side the server will serve to. If it gets to 1 set all to decide the match will be a championship tiebreak to 10 points.

The match is over when the 3 sets have been completed or when time runs out.

Tiebreaks and Matches

Tie breaks, when both teams reach 6-6 in a set, are played to 7 points. The first serve in a tiebreak is served from the right-hand side of the court by the team player that should have served the next game.

From the second point, each player serves for the next 2 points, starting from the left-hand side of the court.

The tiebreak is over when one team reaches 7 points, usually you must win by 2 clear points but because we have a time limit at 6-6 it will be next point wins.

The team that serves first in the following set is the team that did not serve first in the tie break.

Points system

In one match you can receive a total of 4 points.

1 point for turning up. 1 point for each set you win. 1 point for winning the match.

Your team will receive a bonus 2 points if 50% of matches (3 games) are played before the 3-week mark.

If your opponent doesn’t show or cancels with less than 24 hours’ notice you get the full 4 points automatically.

In the event of a tie on a set each team will receive 1 point.

Unfinished sets give the leader 1 point and the one behind 0

(You must be in the lead by 2 games to count as a win, for example if it was 4-3 that is a tie, if its 5-3 you win the set).

For example.

  • You get 4 points if you team wins 2-0 or gets a walkover
  • You get 3 points if your team wins 2-1
  • You get 2 points if you team loses 1-2
  • You get 1 point if your team loses 0-2
  • You get 0 points if your team gives a walkover/does not show up to a scheduled match

The 2 teams with the most points at the end of the 6 weeks are the winners of the group. If it is a tie with points, it will go down to how many sets have been won.

Reporting matches

Winners or losers should report matches promptly to Laura via text or email. When the league has been set up each division will have a WhatsApp group where at the end of each week the table will be updated and posted.

Setting up matches

Players have a joint responsibility to set up matches. You must try and organises your matches the week the league commences. You must give your opponents a minimum of 3 different dates and times to play each match.

Poor weather

If both parties agree the weather is not playable phone up CorteSport and rearrange your booking. If it rains during the match either team may decide to stop, but the match must still be completed. Matches should be re-started with whatever the score was when play stopped. If rescheduling becomes impossible, the score must be reported as it stands. If a player becomes injured during the match the score still stands.
